Saving the Akhal-Tekes — success of the long term project to save the endangered Akhal-Teke horse — depends on all of us, the people who love the Akhal-Tekes.
Generosity comes in many forms. Here are some specific ways to be part of this award-winning nonprofit project to save the rare & amazing Akhal-Teke horse, and the nonprofit programs that support long term conservation breeding, breed education, and the success of Akhal-Teke horses and their people.

Many companies provide matches for charitable donations by individual employees, and sometimes for retirees as well, potentially doubling or tripling the impact of each employee donation. Some of these company matching programs function through a company-specific donation portal (often run by a service like Benevity, used by Microsoft, where the ATF is an approved nonprofit), so the donation and match are performed automatically. Just log on at your employer's charity portal, and search on "Akhal" to find the ATF.
Some company matching programs function more like a reimbursement model, where the company matches once proof of donation is provided. The ATF does provides proof of donation automatically when you contribute online. Check with your employer for details.
To search for your employer's matching program, try Googling "[company name] employee donation matching program".
Starting at age 73, many people with IRAs and other retirement accounts have to make minimum withdrawals, known as Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) every year. In many cases, these retirement withdrawals are taxable. Those taxes can be avoided by donating directly from a retirement account, to a nonprofit like the Akhal-Teke Foundation. This kind of direct donation is known as a Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD). The respected Charity Navigator website provides an overview and step-by-step guide for this very effective way to give.
The great advantage of donating stocks directly, as opposed to donating "cash," is that stocks can generally be donated at full value without paying tax on capital gains accrued during ownership of the stocks. As a result your donation for the Akhal-Tekes can have a higher value, and have even greater impact.
The DonateStock website makes it secure and easy to donate stocks directly. Your financial advisor can also manage stock donations for you, to the Akhal-Teke Foundation via DonateStock.
The Akhal-Teke Foundation warmly welcomes support from philanthropists who have an organized "donor advised fund." To support the ATF from your donor advised fund with Fidelity, Schwab, or Mellon, just use this link. And learn more at DAF Giving 360, sponsored by Schwab and Fidelity.
We also support EasyDAF from DonateStock as another streamlined option for DAF giving from a long list of fund managers:
"Planned giving" refers to the time-honored approach of making a charitable donation as a bequest, or in other words, including a charitable donation in one's will. Consult your legal advisor, and please contact us at this link any time for more information.
